Adventures
I like to explore and participate in outdoor adventures. I frequently plan, or don't plan, exciting stuff outdoors, including:
- Hiking, climbing, backpacking
- Canoeing/rafting
- Offroad exploration and other experiences
- Biking
Upcoming adventures
- El Golfo/Puerto Penasco beach adventure: 2-4 day adventure through Southern Arizona and Sonora, MX. Roughly 40 miles of driving along the beach, on the northern end of the Sea of Cortez. More details coming soon.
2008
- June 14: Burro mountains / Burro peak.
- June 8: Robledos: Lookout peak.
- June 7: Baylor pass, once again.
- May 24: Sandia Crest.
- May 2: Ouachita Lake, Arkansas.
- April 26: Ladron Benchmark.
- April 12: Rabbit ears attempt 1.
- March 7: Guadalupes (Texas high point).
- February 23: Went to Rosedale (ghost town) in the San Mateo mountains with Brecken and a group of metal detector people. I found an axehead(not pictured), but they did find several other interesting things. Brecken and I went on a kind of side hike to find another mine, and did find a claim, but not the mine we were looking for.) The hawk (or whatever bird that is) pictured near the end of the day was found on the side of the road about 10 miles from the exit taken from I25.

- February 9: Solo'ed Cooke's peak. Picture a blob of ice cream with giant rock cherry on top- this is that mountain. I enjoyed a wonderful climb- only took about three hours- two up, one down. Several frozen waterfalls on the way up provided some interesting scenery, and the final climb up the (cherry) rock on top was quite scenic, and not very difficult at all- I almost didn't need any hands.

- January 19: Climbed the Organ Needle (~9000ft). It was quite a climb- got much assistance from several good writeups on the web.

- January 12: Hiked around Baylor Pass in the Organ mountains, following the trail for a bit before making a short attempt at Baylor peak before dark. I hit 7000ft before I decided that I didn't want to be hiking in the dark.
